Springtime in the Rockies, at The Lodge at Spruce Creek, located in Rifle, Colorado, is a welcome time after the long, cold, snowy winter season. The grass greens up quickly in the pastures, even as the snow still clings to the shady north facing mountain slopes. It is one of nature’s beautiful contradictions to witness. The newborn Black Angus calves frolic next to their mothers, happy too, that winter is relinquishing its hold on land. The snowmobiles get tucked away for the year and the ATV’s (four wheelers) are dusted off, as they now become an integral part of the day-to-day ranch activities. The horses start to lose their wooly winter coats, get new shoes and are ready to start working again. The frozen days of winter are over, and the rebirth of spring has begun.
Some of the “on campus” included activities during the spring time (weather pending) include:
“We are so happy we were able to spend our family vacation at the Lodge. It was more wonderful than we could have imagined! Lots of options of things to do in a serene, relaxing environment with all the amenities. The food was fantastic and we really appreciate being so well cared for. Thanks for the amazing hospitality and a memorable vacation.” Mary B. – Livermore, CA
“Thank you so much for a lovely stay. Time flies when you’re having fun! We feel like we just go here and now it’s time to go. We loved hanging out with your horses, hearing stories from your family history and gazing out on the beautiful Colorado mountain scape. We wouldn’t change a single thing about our time here…except maybe staying longer :).” Aaron B. & Jenny W. – Oakland, CA
