Summer in the Rockies

At The Lodge at Spruce Creek, located in Rifle, Colorado, our high mountain summers can be as hot as they are cool.  Welcome to the land of no humidity, where the days can bake like a dry oven in the nineties, but once the sun, sets, you need to reach for your sweater.  Here on the Western Slope of Colorado, the temperature changes are what make our summers enjoyable and different from most other places where it never cools down at night, and stays muggy.  It makes for a memorable way to end the evening, reliving the stories of the sunny day (after rafting or basking at the Glenwood Hot Springs pool) while being bundled up around the campfire, roasting s’mores and staring up at the starry Western Colorado night trying to identify the Big Dipper.

Some of the included activities during the summer time (weather pending) include:

• Riding ATV’s on the 160 acre ranch (helmets included)
• ATV excursion on the Spruce Creek Gulch property of 360 acres (for the more advanced riders) includes lunch and hiking/walking trails.
• Wildlife viewing (a chance to see Elk, deer, coyotes, wild turkeys, etc.)
• Sophisticated camping [Glamping] (sleep outside in the great Colorado outdoors… but don’t really “rough it”)
• S’mores campfire kits
• Chuck wagon BBQ’s
• Horseshoes
• Volleyball
• Hiking and Walking Trails
• Sunbathing (also privately) on any of our decks
